AB British Light Dragoons

I've had some time to paint over the last couple of weeks or so as I've been fighting off a cold and managed to finish up the British light dragoons I bought 6 months ago. This has been sort of a gap in my collection for a long time.

Here is the 14th Light Dragoons. The trooper without a helmet (rear rank, center) was an interesting variant from AB. Sometimes we forget equipment could be lost or destroyed and replacements scarce.

And lastly, here is the 16th Light Dragoons. I chose to paint units which were active in the Peninsular War and the orange facings was something a bit less common in the British army. I'm happy with how they turned out and look forward to seeing them on the field.

I've been working on 6mm Baccus French Napoleonics for a while. In March I hope to have them debuted here. For grand tactical games, smaller figures can make larger game possible without the need for a super-sized table.

    1. Thanks. Look forward to them madly charging about and acting silly.

  2. These are great. Love the Tarleton helmets. The earlier uniforms were lovely.

    1. Yes, they look less French. The helmet and lace really do work well.

  3. Look great, I had some 15mm Battle Honours light dragoons I painted years ago as the 14th and have just got half way through a 28mm version of the same with the Perry plastics then the 16th to do. My buglers have reversed colour jackets as I believe this tradition was still in force until the 1812 uniform change.

    1. Anthony, I thought this was the case as it was for the infantry. From what I can find for cavalry, it doesn't appear to clear cut. The hussars and heavies didn't do this and either the light dragoons were inconsistent or a lot of people are wrong for uswing blue jackets. I began with reverse colors and just decided to play it safe. Still unsure, just happy to have gotten done. I had intended to do Battle Honors but a while back I just moved fully into AB to match the larger size of my AB/Eureka Miniatures.
